Beautiful Life - Poem by Lauren Prue

It’s times like these I sit and ponder
While the snow falls lightly, covering
The new shed in the corner of my yard
I’ll sit and think, and slightly wander
Through the downy flake
And as I walk through
This vista before me
It’s time like these I think
This is a beautiful life

It’s times like these I pause and muse
As I hear your voice, welcoming me
And you offer me a place to stay
I’ll consider this for a moment
Questioning the motive of your kind words
Your patient offering to a dear friend
Your care, compassion, concern
It’s times like I think
This is a beautiful life

And maybe someday
In the future, when the snow
Isn’t falling, and you aren’t
Nearby to lift me up
When I have fallen
Maybe that day I will
Lay down and cry
And in between shrieks of despair
You will hear me declare
This is a beautiful life
