Before Now Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Before Now

No longer is a 'Before'.
The way to live it 'Now'.
Out the door to shut close,
Is anything and everything...
Associated to keep locked up,
In one's mind to regard...
As treasured momentos.
To dust off and relive.

Before a now existed.
Many will agree,
For them had significance.
But only those who hold onto,
Their yesterdays to have gone...
Find it difficult to adapt and adjust,
Even to a 'Now'...
That promises not to stay around,
Too long to remember it came.
These times we live,
Are not for those who blink.
Or think to reminisce them,
Is on anyone's list to prioritize.
They are not.
Unless that someone is a robot.
Unthinking.
Uncaring.
Unempathetic.
And shows signs,
Of being programmable.
With directions to follow.
To be obeyed.
