Being A Good Wife Poem by Joseph Edwards

Being A Good Wife

He once told me, in order to serve him fully
He the almighty
We must be pure as snow
Pure to grow
Pure to flow and float up to heaven
However, he was born more pure than I
Justification between masculine thighs
I was meant to follow grooming guides
Evangelical television on repeat preaching
Dear husbands, after years of attempting
To groom your Christian wife, are
You running into a brick wall?
Yeah? Order our wife training guide
Submissive holiness guaranteed
YEAH!
Help her become a really good wife
Raise a whole bunch of kids and do
Like everybody else
Yeah, yeah, yeah Call now!
We did...
The leaders he hid behind said when grooming young wives Make sure she's a good wife
Does a good wife have a mind of her own?
NO, a good wife always knows her place
Discipline is crucial, some say key
Discipline, not love, was given to me
Standing there repeating words once spoken as advice
Young wives never think twice, young wives never think
A husband is king, he is in charge
No school or work, a wife must only serve
He, my husband, my lord and master wants a good wife
But my god, who died for my sins
Never used misogyny as an 11th commandment
