Being Born On An Election Month Poem by Dave Tanguay

Being Born On An Election Month

I was born in Nov. of 1948 - the month Truman was elected
In ’52 Eisenhower took over the reins,
With him in office, the flag, and God were connected
After 8 yrs., Kennedy was elected on my 12th. Birthday, you might
Say I ran my own victory campaign

Losing him through assassination, - Johnson took over the lead
His administration, sent me to Viet Nam, to fight in an unpopular
War
Only to return to hear Nixon make promises of peace, he said,
We truly need.
Although the beginning of his reign looked bleak, he managed to
Unite an alienated country - a victory he did score

From Nixon came Ford, Carter, Reagan, then George H - was
Elected on my 40th. Birthday
You see every 28 years a president is elected on the day of my
Birth
Clinton, George W - soon to be replaced by the coming of another
Election Day
Let’s hope our next leader finds the missing link that will finally
Unite us all as a people - here on planet Earth

I feel special to have been born on the same month our nation calls
On her citizens to vote
Especially when I celebrate a victory for the candidate I promote
According to my calculations the next president elected on my
Nov.8th. birthday
Will be on Election Day of 2016, I’ll turn 68 years old on this
Particular Tuesday

'Not to old to live my lifetime dream - that is - to live in a world united with peace and love'
