Being There Poem by Stewart Watkins

Being There

Rating: 4.5

All these years of blood, sweat, and tears;
the undying will to carry on despite all the debilitating fears

Just being there is what I've longed to see;
to finally live my dream and be all I knew I could be

What was it really for? Was it all in vain?
The flurry of lies, jealousy, and close-mindedness, I think I have just cause to complain

Society! Why does she shut her eyes and stuff her ears?
Why won't she hear my cry and help dry my salty tears?

Being there, now I wonder?
Being there, should I go asunder?
Being there, trying to belong
Being there, seeming all I do is wrong

Now that I'm there, what is it going to take.....
to rid my being of this lonely, sullen heartache?
