Belleza Poem by Joel Mildew

Belleza

Of aimless direction
I am lost
But, I know my stops and turns
And ‘pon summer songs,
And hidden branches
I found a place
Hidden by the lake
Only where I can go
There a mistress
Of fading beauty
Of rust, anemic hue
Awaits

Belleza,
Mighty mistress Belleza
Squatting with closed hands
Searching through closed eyes
As you gaze the unknown tomorrow
Belleza
Mighty mistress, Belleza
As a child,
I keep your sickly secrets
As they rot in the summer sun
And drop deep in the dissonant valley
Belleza,
Mighty mistress Belleza.

Of aimless direction
I am found
And upon ashen, starless nights
