Beneath the shadows of the Red Fort's might,
Where echoes of empires fade into night,
Zafar, the poet-king, once held his sway,
But Delhi slipped, like sand, away.
His verses bloomed, his heart aflame,
Yet fortune's wheel played a cruel game.
The crown he wore, now dust and lore,
Delhi's throne would beckon no more.
Centuries passed, the city's song,
Still hummed of rights, of righting wrong.
Kejriwal rose, a common man's dream,
To steer the helm of this ancient stream.
But power, like time, is a fleeting guest,
It tests the strong, it breaks the rest.
Delhi, the city of countless tales,
Once more slips free, as ambition fails.
For Delhi is no one's to claim or hold,
Her spirit is wild, her heart is bold.
She dances free, through empires' rise,
And watches kings and leaders' demise.
From Zafar's tears to Kejriwal's sigh,
She whispers softly, "All must try,
But none can own me, none can bind,
I am the city of the restless mind."
So let the rulers come and go,
Through Delhi's streets, their shadows grow.
But she remains, eternal, free,
A timeless muse of history.
