Beside The Embers Poem by Jayne Louise Davies

Beside The Embers

There beside the glowing embers,
Once upon a cold November.
Twas a time i still recall,
Life back then not dull at all.

Stories told with eyes that glistened,
Touched my heart each time I listened.
Tales of life from long ago,
Oh how i miss those moments so.

I'd cling to every moment shared,
No stories cannot be compared,
to those my parents shared with me,
Of growing up when young and free.

That warmth has stayed within my heart,
I'm grateful now that we're apart,
For i shall smile,
then just remember,
Those happy days,
beside the embers.
