Bipartisan Issue Poem by Ima Ryma

Bipartisan Issue

Springtime in Washington, D.C.
Is a blossoming time and place,
Thanks in part to the cherry tree
Cloaking the Capitol in grace.
Thousands of the lovely trees bloom,
The cherry blossoms pink and white,
Sending forth wafts of floral perfume,
Being enjoyed in scent and sight.
Where did the cherry trees come from?
First Lady Helen Taft did play
A large role in their gift welcome
From Japan in a friendship way.

Over a century, good cheer
The cherry blossoms bring each year.
