Birds 12 - Green Imperial Pigeon Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Birds 12 - Green Imperial Pigeon

Rating: 5.0

This colourful forest pigeon
has its back, tail and wings
a shining metallic green
marvelled for its glowing sheen

A species much larger in size
than its domestic cousins,
found in a wide range of places
like Nepal, South India,

including the Western Ghats
Sri Lanka, the Philippines,
Indonesia and South China,
but now threatened of extinction.

A beautiful poem. I keenly observe your positive attitude, noble intention and swift but prudent moves. I have not seen you but as per my intuition, you are an imparial and gentle learned person. I can't say anything more!

Thank You, Dillipji. I am not sore whether I deserve all the eulogies you showered on me. Still, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The Imperial Pigeons are Forest Birds, it is very difficult to domesticate them. The efforts to rear and breed them in captivity have not been successful yet.
