🎈 ~ Birthdays ~ Poem by Carola Hume

🎈 ~ Birthdays ~

Are they a reminiscence of times passed,

Are they nostalgia of your youthful years,

Are they a recollection of achievements gained,

Are they thoughts of regret of choices made.

Or perhaps, & God-willing there's still a future that's yet to unfold.

Will your kinsfolk use this day to remember you,

Will they make and write a card specially for you, or,

Will they think of you in a card shop whilst making a choice,

Will they mail you birthday card wishes, or just send an email.

Or perhaps a generic box card waiting in a cupboard will be used.

Cards can be classical, arty, funny or just a bit risqué,

Cards are wonderful, and have that very personal touch,

Card greetings and wishes can be viewed everyday,

Cards require pre-planned thoughts and action for you.

Or perhaps you'll receive the obligatory & momentary phone call.

'Cos that requires less time, less thought and effort,

Calls can also be wonderful to hear a family, or friend's voice
,
Could you be very lucky and receive both?
C'est la vie!
It depends on your position on the family totem pole.

Or perhaps you'll be overlooked, or birthdays no longer matter to you ! ! !
