Black Leaves Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Black Leaves

This is a departure of color from the prism of life
The rupturing of gigantic missiles on the face of common sense
The fragmentation of hope
With pieces of misery and despair scattered all over the body of humanity
I am a witness to the destructive nature of the human mind and ideology
Like solid fountains of death that pierces the heart of humanity
It is not just the wickedness of war, it is the recklessness and the brutal show of power
The curtain of evil lifted for all of us to see the venomous identity of evil
This is the hardened blood on the mangled bodies of children, mothers and the elderly
Blood poured on their innocent souls
Black leaves is a poem about the madness of war
And the muted despair that fills our lives
The hopelessness and powerlessness of us all amidst the horrors of war
The neglect and betrayal of innocent lives
Black leaves is a poem that depicts the rotten entrails of evil
