Blank Screen Poem by Mona Adviento

Blank Screen

Blank screen. A blip against the white washed background tinged with gray and blue
I see the letters but they are meaningless and my eyes lose focus while my thoughts roam
To a place of sunlight, where the darkness is an age away,
Where the sand between my fingers brings ecstasy as i am intoxicated by ing on my face, the violet-beating on my face, my skin crawls with rivulets of salty drops that trace the fire on my pulsating whole.

My eyes are wide shut as I slumber and run amok at the same time
Ina fantasy where I worship the elements that sustain my existence
I am upon the ground wide open, ready to take in the assault on my senses
That remind me, that shake me, that enthrall me—I am alive.

Naked under the rays and stars that purify my being as I bask in the light of their borrowed luz

A blip again and the blue and grey come back to life. I am back in the box, where I am no one but someone else-conforming to reality. dressed in clothes, confined in me.

I remind myself that iam here, I am now. I am ins suspended animation. Asleep while awake.

I am a blank screen that waits for the data. I REM my way to life.
