A ribbon of blue and yellow
Flew amongst the guns that bellow,
Firing their shot and shell
To land where men then fell
In a place that has become hell.
The sky stretches forth a brilliant blue
Where battles raged all day through
Among the wheat, corn and sunflowers too;
As Death's sickle sweeps the ground
Where corpses lay all around.
The world sits and wonders why
There is war in such a clear blue sky
Where the yellow corn is stained with blood
From every shell that lands with a thud;
Where one mans ego caused so much pain
Oh, when will peace be restored again.
