Bones Poem by Ana Podarevska

Bones

Rating: 5.0

my bones layed down to rest,
my skin crawled underneath.
they told us we'd gone with the best,
they said it with so much grief.
i almost looked away,
i almost did not watch.
but in the end i kept on looking,
i think i saw too much.
images of broken homes,
bruises, cuts, and scrapes.
all the people, all alone
how much does it take?
i almost looked away,
i almost did not watch.
but in the end i kept on looking,
and i think i saw too much.

[not my usual writing style. more musical, lyrically.]

Ana, you give your reader just enough information to whet the appetite for more. There is something haunting about this piece - open to a myriad of interpretations. Perhaps a disaster, perhaps an experience in a hospital, or an hallucination... Yes, the poem flows in a lyrical style and the repetition works very well. An arresting piece. love, Allie xxxx
