Booklovers Poem by Mark Heathcote

Booklovers

Rating: 5.0

I've never been a reader of novels
My attention span is shorter than most.
But boast I went further, in the margins
of one then another, it's no riposte
I did favour it, above all others-
And yet, some thirty years or more later
Little do I remember - book lovers?

The authoress and originator
Modernists of the Victorian era.
How can she not be an innovator?
A guide-thereafter of each novella,
George Eliot's book, The Mill on the Floss
hasn't lost any of its gloss for sure;
It's been a template never gathering moss,
it's a feather-in-my-cap totally - top-drawer.
