Borderland Poem by Smoky Hoss

Borderland

Rating: 5.0

The mystical place between
Good and bad,
Light and dark,
Absolution and sin.
Not so easily defined (nor found) .
"Gray areas"...
on the way to the "Promised-Land".

Don't look back, or
You risk being turned into a pillar of salt-
Yea, I know,
Eagles soar, lions roar, and
we are supposed to be
Perfect forevermore... ok.
Sure, that's it.
No more problems, only smiles,
(because up on the mountain top
we can see for miles and miles) .

Nice words, pure joy, perfect...
B.S. (to say the least)
Though the "future" may be secured,
the problem "here" remains:
we still live with the beast!
in this damned place we are in,
the in-between heaven and hell.
Pretend it's okay they like to say, but
dad-burn-it, here isn't
so "blanking" swell!

A borderland
neither here nor there,
nor really any-damn-where;
just keep up the good-fight
I've heard it said, but
fight what, who and where precisely? -
in the heart, or in the head?

So, here we sit, in a bit of a fit,
and it's the damnedest thing...
the ugly thoughts, lousy feelings
and lonely aches, being in this borderland
brings...

ah, yes, smoky, i relate to the struggle of keeping a positive outlook when so much of the news is bad. one thing i do is limit my exposure to the news. face it, it focuses on the negative, so much of it is speculative, and a huge hunk of it is trivial. another thing that helps is learning that so much of what we face has been faced before as i learned recently reading a history of the united states in ten strikes.' possum-like, hang in there brother. -glen

Life, Sometimes we wonder just where do we go from here? We do not want Heaven or. We just want for that happy life that we have worked so hard for. Great words penned Smoky.
