Bowl Of Elsewhere Poem by gershon hepner

Bowl Of Elsewhere

Would prefer to drink a bowl of elsewhere,
to staying where you are, with me?
Tell me, is it my voice you’d like to hear
while I try bringing you to me,
afraid that you may have another goal
towards which you would like to aim,
no longer drinking from the present bowl
where here appears to you the same,
perhaps, as nowhere? While I’m only guessing,
I feel that elsewhere truly may
be where you’re aiming for, while not confessing
this to yourself. I pray you’ll stay
here with me, but if elsewhere is the place
you’re yearning for, I’ll stick around,
though you’re still occupying all the space
within my loving, unchanged mind,
which you, to your great credit, have explored,
but think there’s no chance you’ll discover.
much new. This fact by me is much deplored,
but if you have another lover
then elsewhere is where you will have to go,
to him, not me, your contents to bestow.
