Liked the ultimate stanza.Very heartwarming. We could feel your love and care for your daughter and her family.
If I put myself in your daughter's shoes, I will make a hard copy of this poem and treasure it forever. Not everybody has the privilege to have a wonderful poem from a father.
Meeting the complex needs of a person with ASD can put families under a great deal of stress. But social supports can ease the stress especially school supports. And the parents of Andy are great parents. So focused on the needs of Andy.
You have a beautiful family, Bri. You have an intelligent daughter and with great character and a very responsible mother. Your ex wife is a great mother and grandmother too. And your son in law is a caring father.
Your great love for Shannon is reflected in the first and last line of the first stanza of the poem. Very touching lines. No matter how much life changes, family is family. We always have that sense of belonging and support in our family.
A sincere and deeply felt poem. Going through this wonderful poem, a reader could feel that your emotional expression comes from your heart and is associated with your strong feelings of love to your family especially for your daughter, Shannon.
Liveliness of language is what makes a poem grand, / For instance, you wonder where your grandson will 'LAND'!
Thank heavens you gave Shannon's life a chance to start/ before seeing Dr. Stopp, because she turned out smart.
It would be nice if you could share Shannon's reply, but I know you're not a sentimental guy.
My daughter actually read and replied (very nicely) to my poem already! ! ! : ) bri
It seems that your daughter and son in law are taking good care of James and he is doing well.As a grand parent it is but natural to think what the future holds for him.He will make you proud. All the best and blessings to the child.
Parenting in America is different than in my part of the world. I don't understand WHY couples divorce. Something called compromise is always there to keep the ego in check.
