Brick By Brick Poem by Ima Ryma

Brick By Brick

Building my faith was hard to do,
So much easier to build fear.
As a child, the God that I knew
Only in church seemed to appear,
Where I would hear the pastor tell
Of God's wrath coming down on me,
And that I'd be sent straight to hell.
When alcoholic I did be,
I found a program to suggest
Seeking God as I understood.
God wanted me to live my best.
I now have faith that God is good.

Building my faith, no easy trick,
One day at a time, brick by brick.
