Bring Back The Book Poem by Adesegun Adejugbe

Bring Back The Book

Puissant are books:
before erudition is of pride:
much love for knowledge
and little for pleasure,
that is how it was.

Suddenly,
books left the Shelves:
many books to keep,
no books to read;
many Pens to Keep,
no Pens to write;
Just Legs to dance,
and Ears for melodies.

Bring back the book
to nurture innate wisdom;
Bring back the book
to water innate instinct.

To empty pocket to head
is no crime,
but life time benefits assure;
Money spent on book
is never lost;
Time spent to amass knowledge,
is never futile.

Many are benefits of knowledge:
bring back the book to read:
for understanding the past,
for taking charge of the present,
and for a secure posterity.

Bring back the book
for a great change
that is due;
Bring back the book
For everyone
to be the best of self.
