I. Crutches
Don't twirl my crutches
they are not plane propellers
they won't make you fly
but I feel like I'm soaring
when they help me with walking
II. Your Name
want to sign my cast
adding your name would be good
and even better
minus slaps testing plaster
for its clear rock-hard firmness
In my previous comment, I had not mentioned anything about the second part of your poem. It is indeed humorous. You like others to sign on your cast. But the hard knocks to test the firmness of the cast could be painful, as a hearty and warm shakehand with a person whose hand is injured!
Thank you, Valsa. And I can't imagine the pain of shaking hands when one has an injured or broken hand. A firm handshake might, I suspect induce tears or fainting. Strange thing about limbs- you may never notice or realize they accidentally bump into things 40-50 times a day, until/unless you find them injured. Thanks again.
People can be insensitive without really realizing it. I'm betting disabled persons experience more than their fair share of such uncomfortable situations. It's awesome that your temporary disability enabled you to relate to a whole new spectrum of people. And hopefully this poem will help someone, you never know who you may have touched. Wonderfully penned~.
i enjoyed both very much! ! ! some good advice to ignorant and/or non-thinking 'friends' et al! ! ! to MyPoemList. bri :) :) break a leg with your next write! ! heh heh
You made me feel very warm with these words and the notes also....you know disabled persons are only disabled in term of what people can see, in normal people we couldnt see their disabled personality...in you i found such a big courage..God not make things and person not to be something to laugh or fun at, He creates each of us with personal strength...dear Mj, thanks for remind us about all of these..you are wonderful and poems are too :)
