Bury Me Standing Up Poem by Justin Tanabe

Bury Me Standing Up

When I pass away
Bury me standing up
That is how I want to be remembered
As a person who was never brought to his knees
Never kneeled before the Devil
He obliterated my entire world
Yet I remained on my feet.
He made my skin fester with sores like Job
Yet I refused to be knocked down.
Because the wonderful light
at the end of the dark tunnel
Told me to keep going forward.
