Columbine Remembered Poem by Justin Tanabe

Columbine Remembered

Rating: 1.5

April 20 will always be horrible
a horrible date.
For not only is it
the birth day of Adolf Hitler
A genocidal maniac
It was also the day when his demon
followers flooded a Colorado school
with blood.

So many tears
So many victims
Including those who now must
live with nightmares
that plague their sleep

But out of the dirt of tragedy
We can let something wondeful grow
'The tree of continuance'
But we must give.sunshine and rain
So the tree grows tall and vibrant
and our children
swing on its branches.
