Rating: 5.0

A mosquito
plays violin

beside my left now
my right ear

as if he were a virtuoso
player.

An insect Paganini!

An enormous bumblebee
in a stripped Rugby jersey

sticks out of a flower
(a bum in a scrum) .

A butterfly walks all over
the words I have just scribbled

tasting them with her feet

& suitably unimpressed
flutters yellowy off!

A ladybird crawls all over
the landscape of my knee

before she too takes to the air
with a gentle whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! !

Leaving me here alone
this lonely summer evening.
