We get our kit off
listening to Eartha Kitt.
“Proceed with caution! ”
she advises.
But we don’t – listen
to that bit.
“Oh, John
please don’t do it!
oh...oh...oh! ”
We: “Oh...oh oh! ”
We laugh
delightedly
delighting in
each other.
Our nakedness
a gift
we offer
the other.
“I suggest you watch me
closely as I
mmmm...mmmm...mmmm! ”
“We: “mmmm...mmmm....mmmm! ”
in close harmony.
“Birds – do it.
Bees – do it.”
We do - it
fall in love
all over again.
Only après midi
do we
catch our breath
our laughter lost amongst
a room full of flowers.
“ Après moi
you can kiss him
‘til he melts
like the sugar
in your tea.”
“Only après moi
means you kiss him
after me
after me
after me.”
We giggle gleefully.
Eartha
after following us this far
with her running commentary
clicks off
with her catlike laugh.
We smile.
Sip
a cup of Earl Grey
tea
with a slice
of lemon.
C’est si bon.
C’est si...bon!

This one has to be one of my favorites! I absolutely love the - what shall I call it? - - Serendipity feel of this work...Knowing how Kitt's voice sounded and that 'cat-like laugh' of hers does help, for with that knowledge, I can picture the entire scene, with full sound effects as well. What a joyful journey this was, down memory lane...That is what you always do for me...take me on mind journeys.
