Call Them What You Want Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Call Them What You Want

Evidence and proof,
That changes have come.
Enforcing many to accept,
The reality and truth of it.
Everywhere there are people protesting,
Their right to worship...
In churches.
Churches they have never,
Been inside before.
With claims that a kept 'social distance',
Will keep God from knowing who they are.
And their material possessions,
To have become obsessed with them...
May effect the impressions,
They have made for decades...
By a diseasing virus,
Threatening to take what they value...
Away.

This they do,
Even in the midst...
Of those claiming to be 'Christians',
Being reported on the news...
Losing their lives defying,
Truth.
And its reality.
Along with ministers who say,
Their faith will protect...
Delusions as to what and who God is.
Better than the warnings and findings,
Gathered by history, scientists...
And hospitals no longer capable,
To keep bodies in the morgue.
But store them in refrigerated trucks.

"What is going on in the heads,
Of people like this these days protesting? "

-They detest the effectiveness of truth.
And defiantly they wish to prove to God,
Their 'faith'...
Even though rarely used,
Will save what they delude.-

"That...
Is beyond crazy.
Have they lost their minds? "

-Those 'elevators'...
Have long stopped going to the top floor.-

"Elevators? "

-Yep.
More have been made to believe,
Going down on escalators...
Will ultimately provide them benefits.
Those are 'analogies'.-

"Sounds pretty 'anal' to me."

-I said,
They were analogies.-

"I heard you.
Call them what you want.
Like you,
I have my own opinion."
