Can I At Least Be Allowed To Think Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Can I At Least Be Allowed To Think

Intimate
Or else be decimated
By the wave of political recalcitrant
Who debauch the meaning of words?

Prevent
Or else re-invent
That which the perverts have corrupted
And bring the classroom back to what it has always been

Believe
Or else daily re-live
The pain and regret of ever letting criminals
Usurp political and religious power

Courage
Or else stop the carnage
Wherein Innocent children's bodies
Are permanently mutilated by surgeons
