Can You? Poem by Aanuoluwa Adebanjo

Can You?

Can you see me?
Drapes in hand
Shades on eyes
Occasionally I seem to wipe
It seems like it's sweats
But these aren't sweats
They are tears I try to hide
They must not be seen!

Can you feel it?
Tensions rising
Heart pounding
Occasionally I chuckle lightly
It seems like all is well
But all really isn't
These are fears I try to hide
Away from a world that never truly cares!

Can you hear it?
Low whimpers
Silent sobs
Occasionally I bury my head in my palms
It seems like I am praying
But I am lost for words
My tears replace the words I can't find
Because when I did no one seemed to listen!
