Can't I Just Live Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

Can't I Just Live

I wish there was a land of the mature
Where maturity is not a mere figure of speech
'A man must' is crap post modernism
Simmantics or accademics or is it both?
New world, new words and new meanings

I'm starved of days when universities cooked education
When the educated impacted society positively
I wish I could survive this pressure
Of being one who provides
Or watching them bring lives to shame

I would like to make some changes
Life calls for both the smart and bold
Well perfection does not come from practice
Rather practice makes better, I declare
I do not think but rather observe I do
