Case To Make Is Closed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Case To Make Is Closed

If promises made,
Are not within reach.
For anyone prepared,
For those promises to keep.
They should not be called,
Promises at all.
But stated as efforts made,
To endeavor them.
Done to believe to see publicly!

'Your assessment to judge,
And pass quickly.
Has discrepancies.'

-Oh? -

'Promises are promises.
No matter who fulfills them.
Or...
For whatever the reason,
Are stalled.
Or...
Never to come at all.'

-The others who make promises,
We heard to hear...
On a daily basis made?
To raise our expectations,
Higher than kites can fly.
Have you seen them together,
Make one kite? -

'Hmmm...no! '

-How about,
Rolling up their sleeves.
To at least make the attempt.
Proving to show,
They represent our interests.-

'Uh...'

-Where have you seen,
Those folks most? -

'Stirring us up.
Then awaiting for cheers.
And thunderous applause.'

-My case to make is closed! -
