Celestial Ring Poem by Harley White

Celestial Ring

Rating: 1.0

A stellar work of art adorns the skies
for mortal astral gazers all to view
composed on cosmic canvas when star dies.

Celestial ring of huge galactic size
the universe unveils, as out of blue
a stellar work of art adorns the skies.

The nebula is cast in orbic guise
each varied element of vibrant hue
composed on cosmic canvas when star dies.

With every grand empyreal demise
depicted stunningly through scope's debut
a stellar work of art adorns the skies.

Perhaps our Sun someday before the eyes
of beings far, beholding its adieu
composed on cosmic canvas when star dies,

shall ‘midst their wonderment of wistful sighs
still marvel at creation, as anew
a stellar work of art adorns the skies
composed on cosmic canvas when star dies.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem is in the form of a villanelle. A source of inspiration was the following… James Webb Telescope Captures the Glowing Ring Nebula in Magnificent Detail (Smithsonian Magazine) … Explanation: The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has captured exquisite new images of the Ring Nebula, also known as Messier 57, a glowing orb of material strewn about the cosmos by a dying star some 4,000 years ago. The colorful ring, located some 2,600 light-years away from Earth, is made from the remnants of a dying star. The Ring Nebula is located in the Lyra constellation and is thought to have temperatures over 100,000 degrees. It is a remnant of a dying star that expelled much of its mass into space, and the images show close-ups of the nebula's wispy clouds and glowing rings.
