Censorship By Omission (Gaza 2009) Poem by DM W

Censorship By Omission (Gaza 2009)

Black burnt remains of doll child:
Countenance: blank; expressionless.
Now merely like fragments of porcelain:
Rendered a worthless object.

Orphan of the wilderness:
Otherness denied;
Reduced to a News item
To prick the world's dwindling conscience.

Yet T.V image censored:
Considered too stark;
Too graphic; too brutal
For 'refined' public consumption.

The media's silence;
The world's silence
Speaks louder than words
And louder than bombs.
