It’s been such a long time,
I try to walk in a straight line,
Everything’s changed on a dime,
Not everything is fine,
I dream of the future,
But live in the past,
There is no cure,
For coming up last,
At night I lie awake,
Thinking of the days,
When nothing was fake,
And we both had our ways,
You used to be my friend,
But I fear the worst,
I don’t want it to end,
There are things I must do first,
I have been away,
For a very long while,
But for me to stay,
You’ll have to add me to the pile,
You’ve changed so much,
I think it’s too bad,
Your life and such,
It makes me so sad,
But as I close my eyes,
And dream about what you said,
I think about your lies,
And what goes on in your head,
You have changed a lot,
Almost too much to bear,
And my train of thought,
Leads right to your stare,
You think you’re being wise,
When you change your ways,
But you don’t realize,
I’m the one who stays.
Change in humans is often sad, but if you look closely, many times you'll find that it is an addition to who they are and not replacement. The original is still in there somewhere. Thanks for sharing, Molly

Unpleasant changes in attribute by good friends can be very painful, especially when one who has changed is very dear to the heart. But then, who can question the unchanging nature of change. A well articulated piece of poetry, nicely penned from the heart with lovely rhyme scheme. Thanks for sharing Molly. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
