The Crush Poem by Molly Dorhn

The Crush

The shy boy,
The hopelessly romantic girl,
She couldn’t avoid,
She thought she might hurl,

The boy didn’t know,
About the feelings she’d hide,
Her love would only grow,
With those butterflies inside,

The boy was her crush,
She fought with all her might,
But he always made her blush,
She was in love at first sight,

The love she feels will never bring,
The love that fails to take part,
And the song for which she is to sing,
Forever lives in her beating heart,

With what she will keep,
She brings herself to believe,
As she lays and falls asleep,
True love will not deceive,

To see what is lost,
And cannot be,
Is to feel the frost,
And live lonely,

The future life she shall live,
Will come one day,
But the heart she wants to give,
Will for now have to stay,

The stars in the blue sky,
Twinkling and bright,
Remind her of the lie,
She will bring to the light,

The love that she gives,
To family and friend,
Will last as she lives,
Until then comes the end.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this about a boy I had a crush on, and it couldn't be because we would never be able to see each other in person.: (Sad right?
