A moment of silence is announced
It lasts a lifetime
People convinced
We can't change a thing

But still people are dying
With the boom of a gunshot
We can't pass legislation

A massacre occurs in the streets
A stampede to escape follows
People die but yet
We can't change a thing

We've observed a moment of silence
Now let's observe a lifetime of change
Let's stop thinking that
We can't change a thing

Let's actually do something
Make a call, rally together
Sign a petition
Let's change a thing

Let's not stay silent
Instead, let's have a
lifetime of change
Because we need to change a thing
