Charitable Philanthropists Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Charitable Philanthropists

A goodness to have had,
Wanting it back...
Again!
Many should ask,
Where did it go?
Was it not appreciated.
Or...
Had it been taken for granted?
By those who showed,
A good had to know it...
Became less exciting,
When it grew to overflow.
Giving too many,
A goodness God upon them bestowed.

-Are they trying to have,
What we have too?
Who...
Do they think they are? -

Like a greatness to claim,
Was better to acknowledge it...
When a few proclaimed it theirs.
To feed a feasting on greed exclusively.
Done to make aware,
Their selfish thoughtlessness...
Would never be prepared to share,
What had been there for all.

Leaving the ones feeding selfishly,
Deceiving to have it believed...
A goodness and greatness they alone created.
And others who wanted a piece of it,
Are envious enemies and jealous thieves!
Although...
Naturally born citizens.
And...
Born human beings.

"Why is it always people of color,
You accuse of threatening your quality of life?
When you are on their shores like leeches,
Skillfully duping.
With a hoodwinking to steal from them,
Their resources as if yours to own."

-Whoa!
What?
For clarification.
And presented,
With genuine dignity.
I'll have you know...
Me and my fellow,
Good deed doers of great intentions.
Resent your sentiments.
We offer them to work in our factories.
Built on their land.
Then assist them as much as we can,
When we return as visitors.

And not only to get our skins tanned.
But also give them a few bucks,
To donate to their slow but growing economies.
So...
Don't try to paint us,
As ungrateful and undeserving...
Philanthropists!
Done to do to provide them hope.
With our intentions,
To teach them how charitable giving works.-
