Cherished Friends Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Cherished Friends

Always close, precious to my heart, the very beat
Giving comfort, love, compassion when storms break
Keeping my head above the churning threatening waves
Sharing my joys and grief, strong hands in adversity
With strength of spirit, friendships that never falter.
Lighthouse, amide purple storms guiding me to harbour
Keeping my ship on route not wrecked on deadly rocks.
Friends, beams of light when darkness shrouds the way.
Cheer leaders who encourage my Muse to compose
Applauding each new poem's birth, wanting more.
With you, dear friends, I walk in joy the high road
You are my strength, reason and loving support
Walking beside me towards God's dazzling light
And the reason for all the good I might achieve.
