Cherry Picking

Rating: 5.0

cherry picking Information
to suit a case
as if there's an axe to grind
when there isn't

who has more
good faith
monkeys or angels
and which psychopath to follow
there are quite a lot you know
and not just around old al-aqsa

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was thinking of religious and mental fanaticism, of messages and opinions expressed by pundits etc. I was thinking of the debate on the availability of weapons and their use to defend private property. I was thinking about the Middle East, the revolt of the Palestinians and some shallow comments you read etc... These commentators believe they have an axe to grind and offer simplified arguments and bias which are very close to falsehoods. They actually contribute to the problem. So I could not express myself like them, I had to be very indirect, very allusive, even cryptic and obscure... It's complicated. Then it's also hard to say something sensible that it is not just as shallow, just as sectarian, just as bigotted, just as sanctimonious. The question of good faith is essential but difficult to establish. It comes across as a feeling rather than hard evidence. You also have to keep in mind when commenting certain facts that there are a lot of unbalanced people in the world... more than we think. Otherwise we would not have the situations that we have.
