in the sea near the shoreline
within the current lurks lies
in waiting an unseen hungry
chill cold deadly hunting
predator hiding in the undertow
beneath sunshine appealing
white crested waves rolling
in upon glittering sandy beaches
killer is not human animal shark
killer is an ancient unseen foe
killer is swift rip tide undertow
strong relentless grip ever ready
to leap upon unskilled foolish
swimmers take lost to sea grave
