Chimera Poem by Aphrodite Anastasia Menegaki

Chimera

A lion and snake made a nest
Feeding out of all my heart's fears
Putting my love to a test
Lying upon my pain and tears
Chimera's teeth going through my heart
Her claws hurting more and more
‘Till they turn my love apart
‘Till the angel turns into a whore
Such a beast now lives inside me
One I can't stop nor finally kill
Roars wild to thee who denied me
And chains my lust with anger until
I can no longer hide nor pretend
My heart is left to a sole path
Not of beauty nor of love nearing its end
But that of an undying wrath
