Chipped-Tooth Smile Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Chipped-Tooth Smile

Rating: 5.0

Grey misty sky
awash in rusty rain
along the railroad tracks
of this our beloved city of decay;
no, this is not London in the rain
or Paris in the snow,
this is being stranded together
where lovers fail to linger
and no one desires to go.

Your chipped-tooth smile
and crooked eyes would never clash
with the peeling paint of the dilapidated buildings
and the overturned avenue of trash,
we are exactly like everything destined to fail
and never last.

But if opportunities existed
to find my way into someone else's dreams
of luxury and schemes,
I wouldn't attempt to kiss a different face,
you would not be forgotten nor replaced.
