'' Christmas Dinner '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' Christmas Dinner ''

You sit by the door,
Awaiting a call,
But the doorbell just never rings,
You're sitting alone,
Which makes your skin crawl?
You think it's just one of those things.

Year on year,
It becomes the norm,
Day on day you face isolation,
Shedding a tear,
Becomes true to form,
All you relish is some conversation.

But nobody's there,
You wonder why,
As your life is dwindling away,
Does no-one care,
They just walk by,
Your mind then goes into decay.

Why are you living,
You casually inquire,
Happiness is a thing of the past,
It becomes unforgiving,
You lose your desire,
How long can this feeling last.

We're social creatures,
Everyone bar none,
All our lives we seek interaction,
Friends and family to teachers,
We all adore fun,
The lonely don't have that attraction.

At Christmas time,
It is more profound,
As well as on special occasions,
To make it sublime,
Please come around,
As everyone loves celebrations.

What we'd give for a smile,
A gentle hello,
It would truly be a gift to behold,
Even once in a while,
Please let us know,
Your valued, be you young or old.

A knock at the door,
Gives you a surprise,
Suddenly you feel like a winner,
Your spirits soar,
Right up to the skies,
As you tuck in to,
