On early Christmas Eve we were
Placed by Dad into the fireplace,
Fine firewood pieces each for sure,
A lovely fire we would showcase,
And be a festive warmup that
For young and old would have appeal
In the family habitat,
Giving a Merry Christmas feel.
Later, the kids went off to bed.
In front of us stared Mom and Dad.
And then they too left us instead
Of first putting us out, their bad.
When we heard Santa up above,
We self extinguished out of love.
