Citizen Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Citizen

Rating: 5.0

I am simple and ordinary man
Peace loving and honorable citizen
Always crushed under heavy load
No light, no clean water and no smooth road

I look with dismay
But find no future any way
Yes there is hope in young people
They are the person always witness the struggle

Democracy was never suitable
Race, cast and religion has raised level
Each community wants leverage
We are witnessing crucial phase

We always blame politicians
Where we act as comedians
Sell self for sari and wine
Drink whole nigh and feel fine

Votes are sold for amount
The money has no count
It passes from back door
The counting is done on floor

We give license for loot
Innocents may be shot
There may be daily rapes
No one may be able to fill gap

Are we not to be blamed?
Who has always claimed?
Innocence and ignorance
For politicians presence

Parliament is no more holy
We must share blame wholly
Let rapist and murderers present country
We can only pay silently to almighty
