Close Family Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Close Family

Winds whispering in my head, gently blowing memories of childhood to mind.
Happier times even though life was not always good.
Poverty-stricken according to folks who knew about that
sort of thing,
yet, with parents and seven siblings I didn't realize it.
We had each other, what more could anyone want?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Never realized we were poor, because others were jealous of our close-knit family - I felt rich because we had so much family.
Even today, we joke around and say we were so poor the church mice fed us their crumbs. And, between us we only had one pair of shoes so we had to take turns going to school. We get together all the time for birthdays, graduations, etc., and just because we can. We respect and love each other because that's how Mom and Dad brought us up.
