Coed's Counselor Poem by George Hunter

Coed's Counselor

When I was about to graduate
I knew it was time to choose my fate,
So I went to the counselor down the hall,
A good looking man, and very tall.
At present I had but little conception
Of what to do or what direction.
He greeted me with a great big smile
As willing to go that extra mile.
And point me in the right direction
To help me make my life perfection.

He took one look at my bod, boobs, and hips,
And the words came slyly over his lips
“Roses are red and violets are blue,
I know just the right profession for you.”
You look like a goddess standing there
With your lucious lips and your golden hair.
With everything in just the right place,
You’ll send the rich Johns into outer space.

You’ll do O.K. in this situation
I’ve already heard of your reputation
For partying and having a ball
And making life a free-for-all.
But everything should have its price
A grand a night should just suffice
So, what say you, my little honey,
Will you help me relieve them of their money?

You could choose your hours from dusk to sun,
I’d bet you’d have a lot of fun,
It pays so much better than a nine to five,
Or any profession you could derive.
It’s easy work and not much strain,
You don’t even have to use your brain
And it doesn’t take that long to train.

In fact, I have an opening later today,
A quickie tryout, then you’re on your way.
I could manage your earnings, and it would be nifty,
For a modest fee, say fifty-fifty.
You can make more lucre in a year
Than any job I can see from here
And the profit you make is crystal clear.
No money off the top for the IRS
No income tax for your distress.

So what do you say there, chicky baby,
Are you ready to rake in all that gravy?
Shake on it, and make it your life’s ambition.
Are you ready now for that audition?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I think you should send this to someone wanting to write a new song. it has a hint of Bob Marley lyrics to it with its colloquial expressions etc. It reminded me of my first interview for an art course at college when the principal Mr Bullock asked me to be a model for the department. My dad hit the roof and I never got my art course! I am glad you found the Stephen Fry book useful. I agree about some of the things you said. I think some people have a very romantic idea about themselves because they write poetry and enjoy the notoriety on here. It would never occur to me to ask anyone for a comment but if some of my sentiments and messages go in I am glad. (o:
