"Coeur Bleu" And "The Importance Of Being Earnest" Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

"Coeur Bleu" And "The Importance Of Being Earnest"

"Coeur Blue" (Blue Heart)and "The Importance of Being Earnest"
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
As rock music goes, President Kennedy called up
Bob Dylan and asked, My friend Bob, what do you need to make a country grow?
And his answer is etched in the annals of CD companies or the website, Napster.com.
But I say to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
You need a Gayathri B. Seetharam to make
A country like Canada grow.

As the knight, Sir Walter Raleigh threw his cloak to
Prevent the lady of the hour from wetting her feet in a puddle
I would like Justin Trudeau to extend his PM's cloak in my direction
To prevent me from becoming like Miss Havisham sitting in a living room full of memories
Not that I object to chivalry in a gentleman
But I am an engineer-mom and a homemaker-writer of essays and poems and an artist
And I would so like to get into today's groove of engineering accomplishments as a research associate.

Sir Galahad of Blandings Castle fame
Was famous for helping damsels in distress
For distraught I am, because my quest for a really nice paycheque
Is being met by success of an unpaid form
And I am also plagued by selective oxidation of my email
That is, when translated into poetic English,
A lack of excellent progress;

Alas! I lament that I live in the Present,
And would like it to be delivered by Verizon-Yahoo Inc.
But the CEO refuses to respond to an engineer in hot water
Despite my continued pleas or to publish me on Yahoo.

I wonder if it deters My Fair Lady, myself
Being a glorious and free Canadian citizen
And I wish for laurels for myself as well
In the near future
And for 19-year old son
In the Present and Future.

Stiff upper lip, is the motto of my husband
Who makes a successful living
But he would ask, sarcastically,
Oh ya, Justin Trudeau is going to help you
But I, who have woken up and smelt the roses and the plasma
Trust in a Canada which promises its best for a citizen who puts forth his or her
Maple fudge or chocolate frosting of work
At times, it may have a tad too much of jalapeno flavoured chips
Not too spicy or chilly
But I mean it for the best.

I say that the boson might have been created
Or the Higgs field might have momentarily
Flashed its insignia of light and energy
In the Large Hadron Collider
But I say that there are other possibilities
And I said, PM Trudeau, I am
Going to investigate all the other possibilities.
If the book, The God Particle, says
There is a Goddess who created this wonderful Universe
And the God Particle which does all the work
May I rally around both the feminine and feminine-masculine aspects
Of my personality
And run a research facility, I ask of PM Trudeau.

For if given the chance, I would do Canada
My home and native land as a citizen since 2002, proud
And my country of birth, India
And my chosen land of residence for 2 years, the USA
Would applaud and I wonder if the latter
Would pitch in.

I said in a personal essay
That I am steeped in domestic bliss with hobbies
And in my 12 essays and 2 speeches published on Facebook and Linked In
I implied that PM Trudeau
Has Coeur bleu et love for au l'erable and knows the importance of being earnest
For as a candidate, he was "first among equals".
And I hope that he will see that I am the real thing with
The real deal and a talented soul
And fund me creating artificial DNA by a series of biochemical processes
And also fund my biochemical process to make water.
