"It Is Feminine To Be Illogical" But Feminist To Be Clear Headed About Money Matters

"It is feminine to be illogical" but feminist to be clear headed about money matters
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I rue the fact that my published work
Does not merit paycheques from any source
Although it is very special
But I am conscious of the honour bestowed on me
By the internet publishers of Linked In, Facebook, PoemHunter and You Tube
Who have made me a somebody in the arts and literature area
When in reality, I am a chemical engineer with graduate degrees and a C Programming certification in UNIX and about 2 years of paid work experience;

Last weekend, I had the good fortune of viewing some of the art collections
Of the Bloor West Village art tour on a lovely sunny day
And I say that Michael Harris on 80, Runnymede Road was stunning
And Rita Hisar who gave me a tip on the technique of painting and that is to use palette knives instead of brushes
Who showed in City Canteen,2279, Bloor St W, was very creative
And Susan Manchester, whose titles have to get a mention,
Had vibrant art displayed in 508, Windermere Ave.
And Rochelle Kahn had flowery artwork displayed in the same venue
And the latter had improved a great deal more since the last time I had seen her two years ago and covered her on Linked In;

After a stop at a fruit and vegetable store where I picked up tasty blackberries
And a pomegranate to make fateh hummus, a Syrian delicacy, as shared in The Globe and Mail
I stopped off at Northern Reflections, a women's clothing store
And picked up two red blouses, one with tulips and the other with butterflies
And learnt a bit of good news which would seem like a temporary defection to the South of the border, way down in the South western part of the USA;

The editor of The Arizona Republic who has been stringing me along a little,
As I was convinced, had promised to give me a feature in the same newspaper
With some of my old essays and recent artwork, a couple pertinent to my and our times in Phoenix, USA,
And how sweet and attentive can he get, he had even promised me
The published material along with a paycheque;

The last I have been published in a newspaper as witnessed by me
Has been in March 1997 in Toronto Star
And airy promises by positively ungallant editors-in-chief of The Globe and Mail,
Not to mention the likes of PM Justin Trudeau who has said since aeons
That he will publish me on the PM's website
But exhibits temporary amnesia whenever I make mention of this promise,
Have not been kept yet
And if I say that this belies all logic for my writing and art are very good
I would be called feminine and illogical
In this feminist world;

But life is good for inspite of my husband having a painful shoulder
We did enjoy our time at Ed's 70th birthday (of Judy and Ed fame)
And if I was in a special outfit, the little children seemed to be
Having a rollicking good time as we adults were
And I who went to the original version of The Thomas Crown affair
With scintillating performances from Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway
And brilliant photography, after the party,
And this morning, I am in the middle of enjoying my 50th birthday
And I would like to say that the cops are not going to pry the truth out of mouth
Unless I have a lawyer read me my rights.
