Cold At The Core Poem by Mark Heathcote

Cold At The Core

I sensed it in his touch
A fog that lifted
Revealing a deep frost
Shards of ice pierced my flesh
Clawed at my inner soul
What happened next to me?
Could never have been foretold
His kiss wrenched my heart in two
It was Antartic and more than cold at the core
I wondered what I'd ever seen in him
And how I was now to evolve.
